Eagle watching at Mountshannon Harbour

White-Tailed Sea Eagle hatch chicks for first time in 110 years in Mountshannon

Posted on May 8, 2013 by admin

The Mountshannon breeding pair, a five year old male and four year old female, was collected on the island of Frøya off the west coast of Norway. This pair laid eggs in 2012 but failed to hatch chicks. However by January 2013 had already built a new nest. Two chicks were hatched in the last week and both Mum Dad and Chicks are all doing well. These magnificent birds can be viewed from Mountshannon Harhour. Just bring along your scopes and watch them as they fly and fish around the bay. Accommodation available at www.sunrisebandb.com
