The East Clare Golf Club (15 minutes drive from Mountshannon) and golf course is set in 150 acres of unspoilt, rolling, quiet countryside with majestic views of East Clare. Our course is very popular with visitors from both overseas and within Ireland, and hosted the 1998 West of Ireland Seniors Championship. East Clare Golf Club operates a “pay as you play” policy for visitors ensuring visitors can be accommodated at all times. Club membership is also currently open to new members. The parkland championship course, designed by noted golf architect Dr. Arthur Spring, was opened in 1997 and is located just 5 minutes from beautiful Lough Derg and about 35 minutes from Shannon Airport. This par 71 course with more than 5,920 metres (over 6,500 yards) of fairways includes several strategically placed and potentially hazardous lakes, streams, bunkers and trees.

Ennis Golf Club
Ennis is an immaculately manicured 18 hole Par 71 parkland course. It’s tree lined fairways and tight greens present a considerable challenge, while it’s relatively even terrain of 5600m make it an ideal course for the holiday and society golfer.

Portumna Golf Club
Portumna Golf Club is one of the hidden gems of Irish golf. It is a beautiful parkland course which sweeps its way through forest and woodlands close to Lough Derg, the last and largest lake on the River Shannon. Its mature and graceful trees backdrop the full range of seasonal colour to provide a different challenging experience, no matter what time of the year it is played. Laid out over undulating land, Portumna has lots of interesting shots, including a number of elevated tee box positions.

Woodpark Golf
Tucked in along the western side of Lough Derg, Woodpark Golf Course offers visitors, be they complete novices or seasoned veterans, a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a relaxed round of golf in idyllic surroundings. Located just five minutes drive from the lakeside village of Mountshannon the course is approached along quiet country roads, which offer occasional and tantalizing glimpses of Lough Derg and the varied ancient and beautiful landscapes of this part of East Clare.

If you can tear yourself away from the scenery to contemplate the course spread out around you it will be immediately apparent that water, both visually and in play, is very much a feature of the course. The layout however is gimmick free and extremely user-friendly Location: Just three miles from Scariff on the main Scariff-Portumna road, near Mountshannon.
